So, this is my living room, just as I promised in the Audio Post today. I need to get a picture of it at night, so that you get the full effect, but, like I said, Jenn keeps taking the lights down. Grrrr...those aren't easy to get up there! May have to rumble. ;-) Isn't it fun? And I am LOVING this new photo posting feature. It's SO much easier than Hello! I may just have to put more pictures up!

The One With Candian Emily's Foul Mouth

So.....funny story.

Do I have your attention, Emily? ;-)

I happened to glance over at my buddy list today when I sat down at my computer and I saw something that made me look twice. A VERY naughty word was sitting halfway down the list just taunting me. At first, I thought it was somekind of weird joke. But, I scrolled my mouse over it anyway to see who's screenname boasted the atrocity and, low and behold, it was CANADIAN EMILY! Can you believe it? So, since I hold members of the Inner Circle to a higher standard than the rest of the internet filth, I decided to investigate. After she was very rude to me, I finally figured out that this was a Candian Emily impersonator! Imposter!! I apologized and deleted the screenname, but MAN! I was worried for a bit there! :-)

Emily doesn't use naughty words, just so the record is clear! Happy Cool, Breezy Day, everyone!

The One with the SUB

So, today has not been the best of days. It hasn't been the worst, but definitely not the best. To begin, I slept through my first class. I set my alarm clock for 8:00 this morning and I remember it going off, but that's it...the next thing I knew, it was 10:00.
10:00!!!!

I hate when that happens. So now it is possible that I missed a quiz (which is what this guy calls tests). I sent an E-mail in a few minutes ago, so we'll see. It's not really that big of a deal because the lowest quiz grade is dropped at the end of the semester, but it is frustrating nonetheless. I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS! Then, I find out that one of my favorite people in the whole of the Chapel Choir is leaving (a sponsor, not a student). This particular sponsor, who I will describe cryptically in case this knowledge is not meant to be shared, is one of the funniest people I have ever met and a Chapel Choir STAPLE! Oh, the TRAGEDY! *wipes tear*

On the upside, we are reading the Inferno by Dante Aligheri in my World Literature class, which is one of my favorite old books. For those of you who do not know, I am a big "let the punishment fit the crime" kind of guy, so I like the creative punishments Dante comes up with for the occupants of hell. I know, that's kind of morbid and a little weird..but I am not normally like that, I promise!

So...I noticed that nobody commented about the pulsars yet. I think it's because everyone who read the whole is still recovering from the coma. :-)

Anyway, nothing of real substance to write, just sitting here in the Student Union Building (SUB) and I don't want to give up this computer yet. The SUB is where all the geeky freshman hang out. It's actually pretty cool. Right now, there are three different television shows on the the three big screen tv's. Of course, two of them are soap operas...Grrrrrrr....silly freshman girls.

And Julia.

Hahahahahaha!

I don't think she reads this...that's probably for the best, but just in case. HI, JULIA!!! Yeah!! You're my FAVORITE! Really!

The One With Pulsars

Hey, guys!!! Um...and girls. Um...and any other type of creature that may be out there stumbling across my domain. WHAT's UP?! Sorry about taking a few days to post again. Believe or not, I have actually been busy!! What? Sutdying? Who said that? Don't make me get the hose...

Anyway, uneventful week thus far. You all know what a colossal disappointment this weekend was. No rain. Few clouds. Mucho irritation. I suppose that's not a very good attitude. I mean, if we got NOTHING, then I guess that means that the overall damage of the hurricane was less than projected. And that's nice...

Dude, I wanted some rain. *sniff* OH! While I am thinking about it, certain members of the inner circle need to UPDATE THEIR BLOGS! I'm not naming names, Diana, but I think you know who you are, Diana. BY THE WAY! You MUST go to Seth's Blog and find the link with the L.A. county fair commercials. ABSOLUTELY HYSTERICAL! Does it scare anybody else that this is now where Seth lives? Or that I can kinda see him in both of these commercials? ;-)

What was I going to write about? Oh, yeah...pulsars. So, I had to write a paper on something astronomical for my Astronomy lab today, so I chose to write about pulsars. I mean, pulsar - that's a cool word, right? Let me tell you what a pulsar is.

***ENTERING ASTRONOMY LESSON***
Basically, when a very large star dies, it explodes into a supernova (easy, right? So far, so good). The portion of the supernova that draws the most attention is the cloud of dust and gas that fles off for lightyears in every direction. These clouds come from the outer layers of the star blowing away. The inner layers become super-condensed to the point that protons and electrons bond to form neutrons...eventually coalescing into a...dun dun DUN...Neutron Star. Now, a neutron star is extremely dense (a tablespoon of neutron star would weigh a billion tons on earth) and spins extremely fast. This creates an intense magnetic field around the star. Now, a pulsar is a neutron star that is emitting energy from its magnetic poles (there are a number of reasons for this to happen, but since most of you are already lost, I'll skip it) as it spins. In the case of earth, the north and south poles indicate the rotational axis of our planet. But a compass points to MAGNETIC north, which is not quite lined up with axial north. Does that make sense? Good...moving along. In a pulsar, magnetic north and axial north are far enough apart that the spinning of the star around its axis only allows us to see one pole at a time as they rotate. Since the poles are emitting energy, we see the star "pulse" as the magnetic poles spin into view.
***END ASTRONOMY LESSON***
Now, wasn't that cool? ;-) That was what my paper was about. I just wanted you to share in my misery.

And now, I think I will head to bed. Everyone, have a good night!

The One With the Hurricane

No rain. Not one single drop. No wind. Nothing more than a leaf blew down the street. Stupid hurricane. I have never been more disappointed with the weather or more angry at the weatherman. It was sunny today. SUNNY!

The One With the Shortest Personality Quiz

Happy Hurricane Hunting, everyone! That's right, the time draws near...have you filled up YOUR bathtub yet?

So, I am not normally the type of person (namely, a 13 year old girl) to fill out a bunch of random internet quizzes in the hope of determining my Celebrity-Zodiac-Sharing-Animal-Spirit-Guide (unless I am EXTREMELY bored, that is), but this quiz grabbed my attention. The quiz boasted in that self-assured way non-sentient ads do that it was the shortest personality quiz in the world. Of course, I thought, Now that's just silly. If it's really that short, then it must be a stupid joke quiz. Even so, I decided to see how short it really was. I mean, if it is TRULY short, then it's not going to be a very good judge of my personality, is it? So, I click. This quiz has....

...are you ready for this?

1 question. ONE QUESTION! Are you kidding me? Really, you can check it out for yourself. Click on the quiz and count the questions. Count 'em! 1. The only way you might get an accurate reading on your personality from a single question is if the question is, "How would you describe your personality?" Seriously! Now I have taken three or four real personality tests, all of which were insanely long and boring, and they turned out to be fairly accurate. I mean, there was a little hit or miss going on, but that's okay. I don't expect perfection. But from one question? Come on! This is what I got...

Your Personality Profile

You are elegant, withdrawn, and brilliant.
Your mind is a weapon, able to solve any puzzle.
You are also great at poking holes in arguments and common beliefs.

For you, comfort and calm are very important.
You tend to thrive on your own and shrug off most affection.
You prefer to protect your emotions and stay strong.

Dang it. Best one yet.

The One with the Season Premiers

Hey, everybody! So, what do you think? So far the results have been positive, but I would LOVE suggestions and comments. I am still running across glitches in the Flash movies, but I was so excited last night when I realized I could have it all finished that I kinda just slung it out there. I planned to do a little more testing first, but I made you guys wait SOOOO long! I'm sorry! I hope it was worth the wait.

So, I should really tell you about my growing dilemma...It is the tv. I know, I know..."Stay away from the boob tube!" And normally, I do. But when I moved down here to Waco, we got expanded cable with a DVR. A DVR! WOO HOO!! It's so much fun. Never again do I have to miss any of my favorite shows! I just set it to record and away we go. I aplaud the genius who invented these things. It's awesome! Alas, here's the rub.

Man was not meant to watch all of his favorite shows. Remember when two shows would come on in the same time slot and you had to fight with yourself about which to watch? I mean, you could do the switch back and forth at the commercials thing, but that takes something from both shows. Then, of course, came PiP. A thrilling advancement, to say the least, but the only harder than dividing your attention between channels as you flip back and forth is dividing your attention between two sections of the screen. Grrrr....

Well, DVR's have made that problem a thing of the past...and ushered in a whole new realm of horror. Now, the other show is simply recorded to the hard drive along with all the shows you missed while you were at work or school. When you get home, there are 50,000 shows waiting to be watched! Then you have to decide which to watch first...and you think, "I really should just delete some of these...but that's such a waste! And free information that I am just passing up!" I know, it's silly.

Actually, my problem right now is just that I have to catch up on all the shows I missed while I didn't have a television! I figure that once I have seen them all, I can switch to only recording the new shows each week and save loads of time. Ah...if only that were the sole problem.

See, now it's Septenber and we all KNOW what that means. The networks are unveling all of their new shows and before I know what's happening, my hands are punching up each one and hitting record. I can't stop myself! By the way, this is how I am at libraries too. I want to read ALL of the books! It pains me to know that I will never accomplish that. I wish I could download information directly into my head. Yeah...that'd be nice.

Phew!!! It's so nice to be able to write my long tirades out again! I imagine that for the next week or so, I will be updating like a mad man. Enjoy!

The One Where Microsoft Stinks

Alrighty, so I know that you are all waiting out there patiently (and some not so patiently) for me to finish with my new website. I planned to do that today.

Then I decided to install the new version of Microsoft Office that Jenn had. Not only did it require two installations because Microsoft software feels the need to read off of every previous version of itself ever created to install new programs, but now I found out that it cannot be activated. Microsoft, in their unparallelled paranoia about piracy has intruded on the rights of the consumer once again. I have no doubt that there are people out there who make illegal copies of software, but why should I be punished for that? I HATE MICROSOFT! Perhaps if they did not feel justified in charging $300 for their software, people would not feel justified in stealing from them. I hate them I hate them I hate them.

Anyway, I now hate computers and will not be finishing the website anytime soon. Deal with it.
